Personal-vehicle delivery

Vehicle-cost questions to ask before starting AVP

When your own vehicle is part of the work, understanding the arrangement matters. Start by asking which expenses you would handle, which are reimbursed and how those terms are documented for the specific opportunity.

Separate compensation from vehicle responsibilities

Ask how compensation is calculated and whether any vehicle-related payment is separate. Confirm what each payment covers rather than treating all money received as interchangeable. Use the written terms for the role as the basis for the discussion.

For example, a question about fuel reimbursement is different from a question about the base pay arrangement. Keep them separate in your notes so you can see which parts have been explained and which still need an answer.

List the questions specific to your vehicle

Fuel use, routine maintenance, tires, cleaning and delivery-related equipment are useful subjects to discuss. Ask who bears each expense under the opportunity and whether there are approval or documentation requirements.

Your vehicle and circumstances may differ from someone else’s. A simple list of your own questions is more useful than a generic estimate from another driver. Avoid assuming that an expense is reimbursed because it was covered in a previous role.

Clarify the mileage and reporting process

Ask which travel is part of the assignment, how relevant mileage is recorded and what information is required for any reimbursement. Confirm the process before the first day so you know what records the team expects.

This is also a good time to ask about the reporting location and return requirements. Understanding the complete assignment prevents a comparison that considers only the time spent handing packages to customers and leaves out the rest of the routine.

Resolve open terms before accepting

Bring the unanswered items back to the recruiting or program contact. Ask where the final terms will be documented and which person can explain a vehicle or coverage question. Do not rely on an informal comparison with a different delivery platform.

Once the arrangement is clear, evaluate whether it fits your vehicle and availability. This guide is a checklist for the conversation, not an earnings estimate or a description of compensation currently offered by Sigma.
